MOVE OVER KARDASHIANS, THE LAWSON GIRLZ ARE IN TOWN

Where are the LAWSON GIRLZ Now? The Redux

The House of 607 is a family beauty franchise and The Lawson Girlz are in town for a special family portrait. These celebrated sisters will join their 5 other siblings in Chicago to re-shoot a portrait after a twenty-year lapse. Originally, south loop award winning photographer Don Getsug shot Glynnis, Chene, Pilara and the rest of the brood almost 20 years ago. Hair styling will be provided by Heather B. Williams of GLAM LUXE, and dresses by Bryan K. Osburn.

Here’s what the family has been up to since 1990:

GLYNNIS

Glynnis Lawson Stoot is an American fashion model. She was born and raised in Chicago where she was first discovered in a model search contest. Since that time her face has graced national ads from Pantene to Macy’s. Glynnis landed the lead role opposite soul singer Maxwell in his Lifetime music video and a cameo in a series of VISA spots with Derrick Jeter. She is the great niece of the late Ms. Dorothea Towles Church, the world's 1st International African American model. As a spokesmodel, she is an expert on beauty and haircare. And with abs like hers it’s hard to believe she is the mother of toddler. For more info on Glynnis see www.glynnisstoot.com and www.fashionmodeldirectory.com.

CHENE

Chene Lawson is a character actress with leading lady looks and disarming humor. She had a budding career as a model in Chicago then moved to Hollywood. After landing several guest star roles on My Wife & Kids, The Shield, Punk’d and Entourage, she went on to join the cast of CBS's Day Time Drama the Young and the Restless playing Yolanda Hamilton, a drug addicted mother. Her film credits include Devil’s Tomb, (2009,starring Cuba Gooding, Jr.) The Great Buck Howard, (2008 with Tom Hanks and John Malkovich) and 100 Women (2002). PILARA (April Lawson)

Chicago’s most stylish professional. Don’t ask, “What’s hot this season?” Just ask, “What’s hot off the hanger in Pilara’s closet?” Her forte is digital PR Strategy. This former broadcast journalist, has reported for WVON radio, N’Digo, Chicago Tribune and the NBC 5 Chicago Street Team. Recently named one of 2010 Chicago’s media movers and shakers by Monarch Magazine Pilara brings just as much glamour to the boardroom as she does the green room. Whether backstage or onstage this publicist always looks ready for the red carpet.

DOROTHEA

The Lawson Girlz are great nieces of the late Dorothea Towles Church. Dorothea was the world’s first successful international black model. She discovered personal liberation on the runways of Christian Dior and Elsa Schiaparelli in the 1950’s. Ms. Church was responsible for breaking down racial barriers and was revered in France during the five years she modeled there. When Dorothea’s older sister, Lois Towles, was touring in France as a concert pianist, she brought along Dorothea. The house of Christian Dior tempted the younger Miss Towles to make Paris her home. She didn’t come back to the U.S. for decades. She divorced her husband from Paris. She found it liberating to be considered a beautiful woman; not just a beautiful black woman. She died on July 7th 2006 in Manhattan at the age of 83.

Sean has worn many hats in his professional life from rapper to marketing manager. He is an accomplished athlete and his first love is basketball. He made a roster spot for a Polish Continental league team in Jarolslaw. He also had a cameo in a 2009 episode of MTV's And 1 reality series featuring the best of Chicago's amateur hoops scene.
